Abused Adult Resource Center

The Christmas store located in the Seeds of Hope Thrift and Gift store is great for the holidays. It has thousands of gifts and decorations, including decorated artificial Christmas trees, Nativity scenes, dolls, wreaths, musical ornaments and other one-of-a-kind holiday items. The Christmas store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday through the end of the holiday season. They are located at 520 E. Main in downtown Bismarck. Proceeds from the Christmas store and the Seeds of Hope are used by the Abused Adult Resource Center in its mission to serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children in a seven-county area in south-central North Dakota. ND Anti Horse Slaughter Coalition

November 15, 2011 behind closed doors, Congress spent over $5 million dollars to have USDA inspectors for horse meat. That means we will now have meat inspectors for horse meat and horse slaughter is legal in the US. This is not something that is happening in “other parts of the country” talk of a horse slaughterhouse in ND has been on the table. The North Dakota Anti Horse Slaughter Coalition members and volunteers want to provide facts and figures on horse slaughter and the consumption of horse meat, so you can make an educated decision for the future: Did you know……Horse meat is not meant for human consumption? Horse meat is TOXIC and FULL of carcinogens from wormers, steroids, and medications and there is NO proven safe level to ingestors. And..Did you know….Americans have been led to believe horse slaughter plants are needed for all the OLD, SICK horses, but according to studies, 92.3% of horses slaughtered are under the age of 5 and in good health? And lastly, Did you know you can stop horse slaughter if you write to your Congressmen and get their support on Senate Bill 1176 – The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. 6th Annual Bowling for Fun Day

URL Radio is co-hosting the 16th Annual Bowling Fun Day, Saturday, November 26 from 11:30am – 4:00pm.  The cost is $125.00 per team of 4. There will also be prizes, chili, and a silent auction.

Beer Run Logo 2011

At the start of the race, participants will receive a playing card which they will keep with them & gather 4 more cards throughout the race in attempt to make the best poker hand at the finish of the event.

Entrants will run/walk/crawl (your choice) around Sertoma park… starting at Shelter 8. The first beer stop is at Shelter #5. Participants will either drink a 7oz cup of beer or water. Upon completion of the beer, after you throw your cup away, you will receive another card and can continue to the next stop. Shelter #2 is the next stop where you will again drink a 7oz beer or water, throw your cup away and receive another card. You will turn around and stop back at Shelter #5 for another beer/water and card. Then it’s off to the finish where you’ll receive your last card and last beer.

After you’ve finished we’ll listen to URL Radio and have some dinner, awards and hand out more prizes.Trophies will be awarded to the fastest male and female runner & walker as well as the best poker hand.

Early Bird Cost = $25 for those registered by September 10th.  From September 10-24th the registration fee is $35.  Also, first 75 who register will receive a free United We Sand Shirt. Playing With Food

Local restaurants and businesses are constructing “tastefull” outfits for this “sweet” fashion show.

The outfits will be almost totally edible. Made out of anything they wish. So far The Walrus, Patisserie on Fourth, Blarney Stone and Dakota Dolls of Destruction are all brainstorming outfits for the big night. The audience will vote for their favorite and a People’s Choice Winner will be awarded $500!!

There will also be an edible art piece contest that anyone can enter – so get creative. All the art pieces will be auctioned off at the end of the night in a bucket auction.

There will also be live music from Kris Kitko, a cash bar and plenty to see and do at our local vendor booths. So grab yo girls and have a good time! People will be talking about this for months to come! Don’t miss out! A “taste” of the big city runway/kitchen is coming to our small town stage.

Here’s a quiz.

What does 7-8-9-10-11 mean? It translates to July 8 – 10, 2011, the dates of the 25th anniversary – and final – Prairie Rose State Games. The Games come home to their birthplace, Bismarck-Mandan, for their final bow. The weekend will open with tradition and flair with the Opening Ceremony, Parade of Athletes and the lighting of the torch at the Bismarck Community Bowl on Friday evening, followed by a weekend of fast and furious family activity.

There are a total of 45 sports at the Games this year, including five new events. One new event that will draw some interest is a three-on-three Hoop It Up basketball tournament. Hoop It Up will have both youth and adult divisions, and is truly a “street ball” event, with all action taking place outdoors, using half courts. Other new sports for 2011 include adult co-ed kickball, off road duathlon, family fishing and remote control car racing.

The Games’ Entry booklet with all the details, days, times and location is available at Bismarck Parks and Recreation District, 400 E. Front Ave., or at the Games’ headquarters, right outside of I.
