Beer Run Logo 2011

At the start of the race, participants will receive a playing card which they will keep with them & gather 4 more cards throughout the race in attempt to make the best poker hand at the finish of the event.

Entrants will run/walk/crawl (your choice) around Sertoma park… starting at Shelter 8. The first beer stop is at Shelter #5. Participants will either drink a 7oz cup of beer or water. Upon completion of the beer, after you throw your cup away, you will receive another card and can continue to the next stop. Shelter #2 is the next stop where you will again drink a 7oz beer or water, throw your cup away and receive another card. You will turn around and stop back at Shelter #5 for another beer/water and card. Then it’s off to the finish where you’ll receive your last card and last beer.

After you’ve finished we’ll listen to URL Radio and have some dinner, awards and hand out more prizes.Trophies will be awarded to the fastest male and female runner & walker as well as the best poker hand.

Early Bird Cost = $25 for those registered by September 10th.  From September 10-24th the registration fee is $35.  Also, first 75 who register will receive a free United We Sand Shirt. Cost after September 24 is $40 (t-shirt is not guaranteed for those registering after 9/24/11 - first come first serve).

Garrison Dam Release Info —  (CFS means Cubic Feet/ Second.  One Cubic foot/second equals 646,360 gallons of water.)

• Monday, May 30, increase to 85,000 cfs
• Wednesday, June 1, increase to 105,000 cfs
•  Thursday, June 9, increase to 120,000 cfs.
• No later than June 15 depending upon progress in putting protections in place and actual precipitation levels — increase to 150,000 cfs.
• The anticipated river level at 150,000 cfs is 20.6 feet with preparations recommended for 21.6 feet or an land elevation of approximately 1,641.2 msl.

Evacuations – Burleigh County Southport residents need to prepare for evacuation (not mandatory at this time) due to increased water level (10:30 am 5/30/11).  May 26 Briardale, Hogue Island & Fox Island were served voluntary evacuation notices.  Morton County is recommending evacuation of the following additional areas north of Mandan: Schlossers first to sixth additions, and Seidler addition. Residents were advised to evacuate from the following rural areas south of Mandan earlier this week: Tokach/Timberhaven, and Jetty Beach.

Poker Bowling March 12, 2011

It’s the area’s first ever Poker Bowling Tournament!! Take a gamble and bet on a fun time Saturday, March 12th at Midway Lanes in Mandan. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., bowling starts at noon. If you are under 18 you must need a parental permission slip to participate.  Please email stacy@urlradio.net to get the form.

You will be guaranteed two games of bowling – one for fun and one for competition. The top 12 hands at the end of game one move on to competitive game two. Those who don’t move on can just bowl for fun or their …ow…n wager (we don’t condone side gambling but that is your business). Then, the top 6 hands from game two move on to game three. Top 3 hands from that game will compete for the final big prize!!! Fun prizes throughout the day will be given out. There will also be a silent auction.

Cost is $25/person (proceeds benefit Bismarck Dollars for Scholars)

How Poker Bowling Works:
- Bowl a strike, pick two cards from the deck
- Pick up a hard split spare, pick two cards from the deck
- Pick up a regular spare, pick one card from the deck
- At the end of the 10 frames, pick your 5 best cards to represent your hand and hope for the best!

Beer Run 2010

Join us for Beer Run, Walk, Crawl II on October 16, 2010. Registration at 4:00 & the fun will begin at 5:00. We’ll start at Sertoma shelter #10 & make a 2.5 mile loop around the park. We’ll make stops at shelter #2 to drink a beer, shelter #7 to drink a beer & shelter #9 to drink a beer before making your way back to shelter #10 for another beer, some brats & beans.

Even bigger & better than last year & the BEST part is the money is going to charity. We had over 200 people attend our 1st event, and were able to donate $1000 to local charities. We want to double that this year. So start telling your friends now.

We are also looking for shelter sponsors to help cut overhead costs so if you are interested let us know. You will be able to hold fun little competitions at your shelter. So hurry fast to pick the best one!

1. Eligible participants must register WEEKLY at the Kirkwood Mall Customer Service booth beginning August 9th (one registration per person, per week; may not register anyone other than him/her self.
2. One $100 winner will be drawn each week for an 8 week period. The weekly winner will receive a $100 Kirkwood Mall Gift Card. They will also become a finalist in the October 9th Grand Prize drawing.
